Vittorio Sgarbi started a trend and now it is Gangi, a small village of the Palermo province, starting something similar to what the mayor of Salemi did several months ago.
Gangi is giving away eleven old building of its historical center. The administration asked the owners who could not afford to restructure these damaged buildings to make them available for free. The request to own these buildings needs to be submitted to the city hall of Gangi by November 30, 2009. After obtaining the permit, the new owners must start the work in two months. Giuseppe Ferrarello, mayor of Gangi, is hopeful that the initiative will help to improve the architecture of the village.
