World famous opera singers will be in Trappeto (prov. of Palermo) for the representation of La Bohème, grand opera by Giacomo Puccini.

First edition of Piazza in Opera 2012 organized by CALT Comitato Amici della Lirica Trappeto (Friends of Lirics Committee of Trappeto).

The project – self-funded and sponsored by the town of Trappeto – features an extraordinary cast: Annie Sophie Duprels, Aldo Di Toro, Christine Buffle, Marcin Bronikowski, Fédéric Bourreau, Quirijn de Lang and Eric Roberts.

Rosalba Lo Duca, art director and Italian language coach in Europe’s most prestigious theaters, founded the organization in 2011 with the purpose of promoting and supporting the opera music culture in Sicily.

“Opera is our most famous made-in-Italy product in the world”, says Rosalba Lo Duca, “Melodrama in our project becomes pole of attraction for tourism and culture. Our idea is to lead people towards opera not through traditional channels as theaters, but in the town square, the piazza which in Sicily is  the town’s social meeting place.”

This no-profit project has been self-funded through different initiatives held during the year by the people in Trappeto.

The Summer Beer Fest this year at its first edition is an original event that combines German Beer-tasting, music and artistic performances within the typical Sicilian atmosphere of Baglio Abbate, an enticing location.

The event organized by “Rosa D’Eventi Wine & Food Tour”, is sponsored by the city of Balestrate, the town’s tourist office together with Brassicola-Beverage and Food srl.

For 4 days Sicily and Germany will be side by side in the sign of quality beer of the historic Herrnbrau Brewery founded in the 17th century in Ingolstadt. The beers offered to the guests are the “Traditional” fit for special occasions and the “Weisse”, richly flavored wheat beer.

    PAREJA, BRONZO 180 X 345 X 160 CM Jiménez Deredia / Trapani - Segesta

Visit Sicily through the modernity of Giò Pomodoro and Jiménez Deredia, Gian Marco Montesano and Pino Pinelli’s figurative art. A pleasant and evocative itinerary in the footsteps of Myth, organised by Il Mito Contemporaneo, an International Sculpture and Painting Exhibition organized by the Regional Board for Tourism, Sport and Performance Art to promote the history and charm of some Sicily’s most beautiful and famous cities: Taormina, Palermo, Lipari and Trapani/Segesta. This international exhibition, now at its second edition (under the artistic direction of Massimiliano Simoni) is part of the prestigious programme Il Circuito del Mito.

Contemporary art transforms Sicily into a great open-air workshop. Archaeological sites, temples, ancient theatres, cathedrals, historical city centres and common spaces become exhibition venues. The red thread is the Myth in its most diverse and original articulations as they accompany the history and itinerary of mankind, from Hermes to the great protagonists of the 20th century, seen through the eyes of four contemporary artists of international renown who have revisited, re-modelled and shaped it throughout their work.

These four exhibitions are sure to attract many amateurs, enthusiasts and tourists, who will come from all over the world to discover, admire and explore the beauty of our land, disseminated with a variety of artworks – from monumental sculptures in white marble and bronze to figurative paintings, fibreglass and great oil canvasses.
