A picture shot in Giampilieri (the place where the mudslide took place in the Messina province a few weeks ago) by Enrico Di Giacomo has been shared all over on the Internet in the last few days after being published by Il Fatto Quotidiano.

In the picture, the Sicilian governor, Raffaele Lombardo, stands in front of the disaster and laughs. As a good Italian saga, the governor promises to sue the photographer and claims that the picture is just retouched. The photographer swears that the shot is an original and is ready to prove it. He hopes the governor will resign after the court certify the authenticity of his picture.

Dear Enrico, I really hope you are right. However, I doubt you will ever see the governor’s resignation. Politicians in Italy do not go down for much more than a picture.
